Strengths

Where GPT Image 2 wins

Readable text

Headlines, prices, labels, captions and signage render as the words you wrote. Quote the exact text in the prompt and say where it goes.

Designed layouts

Posters, story frames, banners, packaging and app screens. GPT Image 2 follows layout language (grid, hierarchy, palette, type style) better than photographic language.

Edits with up to 5 references

Image-to-image and style transfer run through OpenAI's edits endpoint, with up to 5 reference images per prompt in the Studio. Logo plus product shot plus last quarter's ad in, this quarter's ad out.

Logos and brand marks

Wordmarks, icons and simple brand systems come out clean and flat, ready to take into an editor rather than a photograph pretending to be a logo.

How to use it

An ad layout with readable text in five steps

1

Pick GPT Image 2

Open the Image Studio and choose GPT Image 2 from the model picker. It sits next to Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Seedream 5 and Flux.

2

Quote the text

Put every word that must appear inside quotation marks and place it: headline "Summer Sale" top left, price "$29" bottom right.

3

Describe the layout

Name the format and ratio (poster, 4:5 story frame, 16:9 banner), the palette and the type style. Bold sans headline, warm cream background, product centered.

4

Add references for edits

Switch on image-to-image and attach the logo, the product shot and any ad you want to match. Up to 5 reference images per edit.

5

Generate and iterate

15 credits per image. Fix a word or a color by editing the prompt and regenerating, or save the working prompt as part of a Style so the agent reuses it.

Prompting tips

Get the text right first time

Quote everything that must appear

Words outside quotation marks are treated as description. Words inside them are rendered.

Keep it short

A headline, a subline and a price render cleanly. A paragraph of body copy will not. Add long text in an editor afterwards.

Name the type style

"Condensed bold sans, all caps" beats "nice font". Say if the text is on a badge, a ribbon or straight on the background.

Use references for the brand

Attach the logo file rather than describing it. The edits endpoint reproduces a supplied mark far more faithfully than a prompt does.

Pick the ratio for the placement

1:1 for feed, 9:16 or 4:5 for stories and Reels, 16:9 for banners. Viral Engine maps each to the closest of the three GPT Image 2 sizes.

Photographs go elsewhere

For a photoreal product shot, generate on Nano Banana Pro and bring it in as a reference. Let GPT Image 2 do the layout and the words.
